Decorating your home is a wonderful way to celebrate the holidas.  Your front porch is usually the first thing that visitors will see of your home.  Decorate it festively to capture the spirit of the season.  Here are a few fun and inexpensive ways to decorate your front porch for Christmas.

Use poinsettias.  These plants can be purchased at almost any home and garden center or discount store during the holiday season.  Dress them up by putting red foil around the pot and placing a large gold bow on them.  Stack them on plant stands or on tables.  Place groupings of different sized poinsettias for visual interest.

Tie festive bows on railings, porch swings, and gliders.  Big red or gold bows add simple elegance to any decor.  Group them together for a fuller look.  Wrap empty packages and display around the porch.

Place decorative lights in porch plants.  I use the white lights in my ficus trees, and it looks so elegant on my porch at night!

Place a small christmas tree on your porch and decorate it in a similar fashion to the larger tree in your home.

Make or buy red accessories for your porch furniture such as throws, cushions, and pillows.  After the Christmas season, store them for use next year.
