Decorating The Front Porch For Spring

The Spring season is rapidly approaching so now is the time to be working on your front porch decorating ideas for spring. There are many different design options you have when it comes to decorating your front porch, and here is a list of ideas for decorating to create a festive spring display.

1. Use color. Think of the different colors of spring themes and incorporate them into your current porch design. I like to use the spring themed colors of basic pastels such as mint green, powder blue, and canary yellow. Color is especially important when spring decorating in small porch spaces.

2. Decorating a front porch does not have to be expensive. Search for what you currently have in the way of spring themed accessories. For example, place silk flowers, spring leaves, or other spring items in vases or bowls. For table decorating, place a spring theme tablecloth on tables and make centerpieces using spring themed silk flowers. If you like country decorating, include some rustic items in your outdoor room decorating.

3. Consider a porch garden. This can easily be achieved with the use of small containers displayed around the patio or porch. Herbs are perfect for growing on an indoor porch.

4. Decorate the front porch door. Make or purchase a spring theme wreath. Maybe consider changing the paint color.

5. Hang or display a spring flag. I've seen lots of spring designs with flowers and other related motifs. Place small potted plant or flower arrangements on front porch steps. Decorate your front door with a spring themed wreath.

6. Change porch cushions. If you are handy at sewing, you can make slipcovers for your cushions out of a spring related pattern. You can replace the cushions on any or all of the porch or patio furniture such as the porch swing, porch glider, wicker patio furniture, or any other furniture item you use on your deck or patio.

7. Check out the home improvement and craft stores in your area for more decorating tips. Many times you can find an idea that you can replicate at home using items you already own.

8. Browse the latest home and garden magazines to see front porch pictures for more ideas. I find wonderful inspiration from other porch design ideas. Check out your local library for the latest decorating magazines.

9. Visit your local dollar store to get inexpensive spring decor items and other seasonal decor including decorating accents such as items for an Easter theme as well as silk flowers for a centerpiece or arrangement.

Front porch decorating is a fun way to spruce up your home.
